We will be using the following domain names for our Gmail systems:
@myci.csuci.edu for current student email
@alumni.csuci.edu for alumni email

We had our second project team meeting yesterday. Much of it was spent on a preliminary conversation on how the alumni.csuci.edu email domain will take shape, including:
- What is the campus definition of an alum?
- Which alumni should receive Gmail accounts?
- When should they receive them?
- What will happen to alumni's prior student email accounts?
Also, the core team for the project is made up of the following campus representatives:
- Mosinskis, Peter (project lead) (IT)
- Aquino, Herbert (IT)
- Berman, Michael (IT)
- Blue, Damon (Records & Registration)
- Craig, Kevin (IT)
- DuBransky, Marc (IT)
- Evans-Taylor, Genevieve (Associated Students)
- Fisch, Neal (IT)
- Garcia, Tania (Alumni)
- Powell, Cris (Housing and Residential Education)
- Rice, Toni (Student Communication)
- Scamardo, Peter (IT)
- Swanson, Judy (IT)
- Whitesell, Douglas (Associated Students and student representative)

The Dolphin Gmail project just kicked off yesterday with the first team meeting.
Although the meeting was short, we covered a lot of ground, including:
- why we're going with Gmail (more storage, better features, reducing cost)
- who will be involved in the project, and their roles (to make sure we're not missing anyone important!)
- scheduling a good recurring meeting time (we'll probably meet every week, at least to begin)
- choosing our domain names
Choosing domain names: this seems to be pretty easy. We're creating a few DNS entries today and setting up a test domain for our pilot group. It's likely we will use "@my.csuci.edu" as the production domain. The only gotcha is that the domain my.csuci.edu is currently in use by our quasi-portal, myCI. We're going to check with our Google account rep to see if this will cause any conflicts (hopefully it won't!)
We're on our way to Gmail!
